5 GPS Apps for the iPhone

I just recently purchased an iPhone 3GS and these five apps are ones I found while doing some research for myself.  Now be warned, I don’t have deep pockets so I have not purchased any of these apps with the exception of Roadee. So instead of being a review, this is merely a list which showcases each app as described in the apple app store. Each of these apps should work with an iPhone 3G or 3GS. Happy Left-Hander’s Day 2009

As Veronica Belmont pointed out in a recent tweet. August 13th is National Left-Hander’s Day. As a fellow left-hander, I’m proud to be the members of society that are in our right minds.

Here are some ways to celebrate this great national holiday from LeftHandersDay.com:

  • Try to get right-handers to try using their normal right-handed tools and implements in their left hand. They will find it difficult and will start to understand some of the frustrations us left-handers face on a daily basis.
  • Either informal or organised gamed of left-footed football, or netball shooting with the left hand only. Works for most sports and your teams must all play left-handed (not just the lefties). Referee could penalise anyone not shooting/leading with their left, and may need a few “spotters” to keep watch!
  • If you have left handed guitar, give lessons to the right-handers.
  • If you have left handed guitar, give lessons to the right-handers.
  • Use the computer keyboard to enter lots of numbers – using wrong hand.

    We have been looking for a house to purchase in Beaumont since we moved down here back in November 08. We are almost done, just playing the waiting game now on financing and paperwork. The house is really nice. Its got a clean look and feel to it. It has all the features that Sarah and I were looking for, minus a 2 car garage for me :(

    We must have looked at 20+ houses before we settled on this one. We found the house early on but wanted to see if anything was better or cheaper. There wasn’t anything better in our price range, with the features we wanted.  Since we have animals, we like hardwood floors, so that was a requirement. It also needed a nice size backyard for our dog Siena and so Sarah can plant some flowers. We also wanted to have a house that wasn’t a “fixer-upper.” I am ok with minor repairs here and there but I’m far from being a handyman. This house is a 3 bedroom so we have our guest bedroom and an office for me. I think it will be a nice fit for us.

    Our closing date is scheduled for May 22nd.  Hopefully everything will go well.  I will keep everyone posted.

    Radiohead Reckoner Remixes

    Radiohead is basically saying “here is all of our instruments from this song go and have fun!” God bless Radiohead! I could shed a tear right now. They have also launched a site for you to upload your remixes and have the public vote on the best ones. You even get a HTML widget you can put on your blog, myspace, facebook, etc. I think Radiohead is the only band out there that knows their audience and willing to go against the mold.

    My Favorite Podcasts 2008

    I was talking to a friend the other day and he asked me for my favorite podcasts. After rambling off a couple he said “That is something you need to put on your website,” so blog post to the rescue!

    Most of the podcasts I listen to are tech-heavy. Just a warning. I will list each one and give a short description of each an whether its an audio or video podcasts. I have 3 categories: Tech, Gaming, and Misc. I personally use a 30GB Zune (Brown) to listen  or watch my podcasts only because it was such a good deal. I purchased it for $85 on woot.com! The podcast list is shown after the break.

    Alpha is the New Beta

    Read this great articleby Mashable concerning the growning trend with software development companies to release very “buggy” software and passing it off as beta, when in fact they should be marked as Alpha. The author talks about Microsoft and Google with their Gmail service which should have the Beta tag removed.

    Working for a software company, I see our software move through the development cycle and we would not release Alpha software for any kind of public consumption. Alpha releases are purely for our testers to test the software in-house. Only after much testing do we give software out to beta customers.
