The next revolution in News Media is almost here. Checkout the video above which shows Wired Magazine as a Tablet Application built with Adobe Air. Can’t wait to see this on something like the Apple iPad or Android-based tablets.

Redbox has the competition beat when it comes to DVD rental prices but another aspect I love about them is their customer service. I had a craving for a movie tonight and this time around is what Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I go to redbox’s site to reserve a copy. I hop in the car to my nearest Redbox.
I get there and notice a line is formed three people deep. It seems that there’s a problem with machine and its not letting anyone rent a DVD. Dohh! This sucks for me double time! Whenever you reserve a movie from online, your credit card is automatically debited one night’s rental. Driving to another redbox and renting the same movie will not remove the reservation charge on that machine. I automatically give their customer service a call and explain what happened. The operator says no problem and apologizes for the machine issue. He lets me know the one dollar fee to my credit card can’t be reversed but he does give me two promo codes for the trouble! WOW you can’t beat customer service like this.
This is the second time I’m experienced this. The first time I was just calling to let them know their machine had a DVD stuck in the slot. They thanked me for letting me know there was a problem and gave me a promo code for my troubles. This is great customer service on their part but it baffles me that they can afford to give away free promo codes on such a low-margin business. I’m guessing they need to save all the customers they can to keep people coming back. All I can say is kudos redbox and now can you fix all the slow asses who take forever making a movie choice.

Last night U2 broadcasted their concert at the Rose Bowl via YouTube. It was a huge event and pretty impressive show. The video quality was surprisingly good for a webcast. It seemed to be a space themed concert with an a little David Bowe “Ground control to Major Tom” to start off the show. They even had a moment where an interview played from one of the astronauts from the International Space Station played over their “Bubble Screen.”
This is yet another example of a musical group embracing technology and its many advantages to reach a huge audience. Millions of fans were able to access U2 from across the globe for FREE! You were able to experience one of your favorite bands from the comfort of your home and planted to seed for new fans in the process.
Besides just YouTube, they used the power of social media to get the word out with the help of twitter and facebook. Their page contained “crawlers” similar to other sites like ustream where people could tweet straight from the YouTube page about the show bringing in a global audience. I know this because I watched this twitter crawler go across the screen as I watched and noticed people from Israel, Japan, Mexico, Philippines etc posting in.
It was a great concert. Alot of the favorites were played along with songs from the new album. Don’t worry if you missed the live broadcast I’m sure it will be rebroadcast at least another day. I can’t wait to hear the stats on how many people were reached worldwide when YouTube stops the rebroadcast and we tally all of the status updates from Twitter and Facebook. I’m sure some records were broken last night.
U2 is already a huge worldwide band but they maintained or increased their elite status. I hope that more artists follow this path of broadcasting live for free like this. It won’t replace the act of really being at the concert but its a great complement and a good way to build followers and increase music sales.

This is one of the best movies I've seen all year. The director is clearly a visionary. It is genius the way the director mixed in real apartheid footage mixed in with CG to give the movie a "documentary" feel. The movie's breakneck pace kept your interest throughout the whole movie.

Ok that was a spectacular crapfest of a movie! I think that has got to be one the worst movies I have seen in a long while.

Some good scares at certain parts but the shaky cam effect made me feel like I was watching Cloverfield all over again.

This is Jennifer Jason Leigh's first feature film. This movie is filled with horror movie cliques but it has enough campy horror violence to keep most horror movie buffs entertained.

I was shocked that I liked this horror/suspense/thriller. I'm not sure what to call it. Its not your conventional horror film but it was tastefully done and started and ended right. It started slow then when ballistic towards the end. Its the type of movie that will leave you on the edge of your seat. It does have its fair share of "torture porn" scenes ala Hostel but its not every scene in the movie. The torque scenes are placed there to evoke a reaction to the audience and it does that in spades.

Great popcorn action movie. I love word that David Twohy created for Riddick. Can't wait for the sequel!
