Kick-Ass starts tomorrow but just wanted to voice a little warning about the nature of this movie. No I haven’t seen the movie yet, but this is my observation after watching the Red Band trailer that was released back in February. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, I have it embedded below. This comic book based movie is definitely one for adults. Yes it stars a cute 12 year old girl, but this girl does some pretty gruesome stuff like chopping up people’s legs with a katana blade and shoots a couple of bad guys execution style to the head. There are a couple of sexual references too. I have a few screen grabs below to illustrate my point. This isn’t the first Rated R comic book movie and I’m sure it won’t be the last.
Now that we got that out of the way, as an Adult, I can’t wait to see this movie! From what I’ve been reading, the movie like 300 and Watchmen is a close representation of the source material. I don’t understand why the studios feel they have to alter the movie so much, it loses what made it great in the first place. I have only read the first issue of the Kick-Ass comic but I commend directors/screenwriters who honor the source material. I will definitely be seeing this movie ASAP.
